It is so cold here in Melbourne , its like I’m in a timewarp and we are reliving winter out of lockdown, its been going on for 5 days now 13 degrees, windy, rainy not fun at all but Thursday its going to be sunny and 24 then back to the cold again. Its summer in 14 days .One day in a week . Thats not why I’m going back to Cambodia although its going to be lovely to be warm all the time. The project I did, I wrote in my last brief blog and attached the clip of the Childrens week project trying to get books donated for a library at FICAC.
Well we got 500 books!!! All fantastic for kids and a wide variety to suit everyone .I have been sorting and packing the books over the last week and they will be sent off next week . I was thinking , this was before this bloody cold weather invaded Melbourne so it was a beautiful sunny day walking along the bay , I thought why not see this all the way through go over give Soon a hand and set up the lending library and have reading time under the Sakura trees Soon bought as part of the project .
Julien is heading back in December, he was so lucky budgeting to pay hotel quarantine then they announced quarantine free travel for everyone who has double jabbed. So that is great. I am thinking maybe Feb/Mar. For me I have to leave to be able to pay my bill. At the moment I pay the minimum what I can afford but in Jan they are doubling my payment, plus everything is going up , my little flat is month to month. I don’t know whether I mentioned my friend who I met in Kampot and he too was stranded over here in Melbourne, we’ve caught up a few times he has been paying rent on a house in Kampot this whole time , its a big new house so I am going to rent a room off him, he’s old and grumpy but it will be good to have some company other than frogs.
Jeni is still there , the funniest weirdest thing happened , she was telling me about this guy she had been chatting to, a friend on fb one you can’t remember meeting , anyway she finds out he lives in Melbourne and yes he is a friend of mine and he is moving over there , how weird is that.
Other than packing books I am also still volunteering at the Alex, have been promoted to Hair and makeup for 2 shows, one is ArtHunter and the other 3grumpy old men from StKilda. They are on youtube. Luckily they are all bald , lol, but I have to powder their foreheads so its not shiny . I get to listen to the Art Hunter interviewing these fascinating people last week he had an artist Gavin Brown , he had these fantastic paintings he did of the market in Siem Reap , it was so good. So I’m loving that and the grumpy old men talk about their opinions on whats happening. Of course vaccination crept in. Phew I don’t know what its like where you are but here this has really broken friendships, working relationships, it has broken a great friendships of years and its so sad. My brother in law has been in his local hospital in a country town, 12 nurses have left because of the jab and there is noone to employ anymore.
Ill start updating more now I feel as though I know what I am doing , going to Kampot. Hopefully Ill stay a while and actually go to Angor Wat.
Stay safe, until next time.
